Volunteers
The BSO is one of the busiest orchestras in the UK, performing more than 130 concerts a year in towns and cities across the South & West of England. This could not be achieved without the support we receive from volunteers who help the BSO in a variety of different ways.
Some of the tasks volunteers help with:
- Mailings and leaflet stuffing
- Manning the BSO box office & telephone line
- Updating the BSO database
- Distributing posters & leaflets
- Helping with the BSO membership scheme
- Selling programmes at concerts
The time and skills BSO volunteers are able to give vary, so we try to match volunteer's skills and expectations to the tasks which need to be done. We always need help no matter how little or much time you are able to give it all makes a difference. If you do not live in the Bournemouth or Poole area then you can still help make a difference by distributing our publicity material, keeping us informed of events in the local area or by helping us when we perform at your local venue.
Becoming a BSO volunteer is a great way to see behind the scenes and meet the personalities involved in running the orchestra. It is also a chance to get out and about, to socialise and to meet other likeminded volunteers.
The BSO always needs new volunteers. Maybe you are no longer working and have particular skills and experience you could bring, maybe you are just keen to lend a hand. Whatever your background if you can spare a bit of time we would love to hear from you.
